Charming vintage Japanese porcelain tableware set featuring a coordinated collection of yunomi tea cups and rice bowls decorated with playful rabbit motifs, flowing grasses, moons, and traditional Japanese ornamental patterns. The set is presented in its original paulownia wood storage box and reflects the refined everyday artistry associated with modern Arita ware gift ceramics.
The decoration combines classic sometsuke blue-and-white porcelain aesthetics with selective iron-red accents and soft pastel overglaze details. Several pieces feature stylized rabbits running through fields beneath the moon, a motif deeply connected to Japanese folklore and seasonal autumn symbolism, especially the traditional moon-viewing festival Tsukimi. In Japanese culture, rabbits are associated with luck, gentleness, and the legendary moon rabbit said to live on the moon making mochi.
The porcelain style blends minimalist hand-painted brushwork with more decorative patterned borders inspired by Edo-period Arita and Imari traditions. The visible underglaze cobalt painting, asymmetrical composition, and use of negative space reflect the influence of traditional Japanese artisan tableware aesthetics while remaining characteristic of late Showa to early Heisei production.
