This vintage Japanese dorei clay bell features a rounded double-gourd-inspired form decorated with the red kanji 寿 (kotobuki), a character associated with congratulations, longevity, and auspicious occasions.
In Japan, dorei are traditional earthenware bells often produced as regional folk crafts, decorative ornaments, souvenirs, and auspicious objects. Japanese sources describe clay bells as items historically associated with protection from misfortune and now also appreciated as interior decorations and gifts.
Material: Appears to be painted ceramic or fired clay with textile ribbons. The exact ceramic composition cannot be confirmed.
Dimensions: Height: approximately 10 cm; width: approximately 8 cm.
Condition: Vintage, very good. The surface shows visible minor scratches, marks, rubbing, discoloration, and signs of age and previous use.
