Elegant vintage Japanese Arita-yaki porcelain kobachi bowl set featuring richly detailed floral decoration inspired by traditional Imari ware aesthetics. The set includes five matching bowls presented in the original gift box and decorated with colorful chrysanthemums, peonies, scrolling foliage, and gold accents arranged in classic segmented panels.
The bowls combine several traditional Japanese porcelain design elements associated with Arita ware and Ko-Imari-inspired tableware styles. The decoration uses vivid overglaze enamels in red, green, black, lavender and gold, layered over fine white porcelain with hand-finished detailing. The alternating floral cartouches and dark ornamental panels are strongly influenced by traditional Edo-period Imari export porcelain patterns that became internationally famous for their luxurious and highly decorative appearance.
The label identifies the set as Arita ware (有田焼), Japan’s most historically important porcelain tradition originating in Saga Prefecture during the early 17th century. Arita porcelain became especially renowned for refined white porcelain bodies and elaborate enamel decoration exported worldwide through the port of Imari. The underside mark appears to read 仁祥窯 (Ninshō-gama / Jinshō Kiln), indicating a kiln or workshop producing decorative Arita-style porcelain.
This type of porcelain set belongs to the tradition of Japanese formal hospitality tableware and seasonal giftware popular during the late Showa and Heisei eras. The bowls are suitable for serving rice, small side dishes, desserts, wagashi sweets, appetizers, or tea-time foods while also functioning beautifully as decorative display pieces.
