The Hobonichi Techo 2027 HON A5 Japanese Edition combines the full functionality of the popular Hobonichi Techo Cousin with a built-in hardcover, allowing the planner to be used without a separate cover.

Designed around Hobonichi's signature one-page-per-day layout, the A5 HON provides generous space for schedules, journaling, work notes, study, drawings, photographs, stickers, tickets, and everyday memories.

The A5 HON contains the same planner layout as the Hobonichi Techo Cousin, including daily pages, monthly calendars, yearly planning pages, and vertical weekly spreads.

It uses thin and smooth Tomoe River paper for planners and thread-sewn binding that allows the book to open flat for comfortable writing.

The 2027 Japanese edition contains 544 pages in total.

Design

1. Yumi Kitagishi – White Cat and Rabbit's Tea Room

A charming and highly detailed HON featuring artwork by Japanese illustrator Yumi Kitagishi.

For this design, two works from Kitagishi's popular Dollhouse series have been selected for the front and back covers.

On the front, a white cat welcomes visitors while rabbits prepare tea and shortcake. The back depicts animals living inside a house made from books, completely absorbed in reading.

Tiny flowers and playful details are scattered throughout the artwork, while the spine features the year 2027 together with a small white-cat motif.

This is the first time Yumi Kitagishi's artwork has appeared on a Hobonichi HON.

2. Hiroko Kubota – String Telephone Until the Moon is Full

A peaceful and imaginative HON featuring original artwork by illustrator Hiroko Kubota.

A cat and wolf communicate through a string telephone in a meadow beneath a gradually changing sunset. A tiny mouse rides a unicycle along the string between them, while a Ferris wheel and crescent moon appear in the distance.

The illustration captures a quiet moment filled with warmth, nostalgia, and imagination.

The 2027 year marking and HON logo are finished in matte silver foil, creating a subtle shimmer against the softly colored sky.

3. V&A Series – Vine

A sophisticated HON created in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), London.

The cover features Vine, a celebrated design created by William Morris in 1873 for hand-printed wallpaper.

Clusters of ripe grapes weave through dense leaves, reflecting Morris's fascination with nature and the craftsmanship of the Arts and Crafts movement.

The rich textile-style cover gives this edition a classic and elegant appearance.

4. Slash – Navy

A minimalist HON featuring one of Hobonichi's standard HON designs.

The cover uses an extremely dark navy fabric that appears almost black, accented by a bold diagonal slash finished in gold foil.

The slash motif is inspired by the forward-slash symbol ( / ) used when writing dates, making it especially fitting for a planner.

The matte cotton cover has a comfortable texture and is designed to resist everyday grime and wear.

The spine is also foil-stamped with 2027 and the HON logo, making the planner easy to identify when stored alongside books.

Important Notes

HON Integrated Cover

The HON is designed with the planner book and hardcover permanently integrated into one product.

A standard Hobonichi Techo A5 cover is not required and should not be forced onto the HON, as the additional thickness and rigidity may cause damage.

Glossy PP-Coated Designs

The Yumi Kitagishi and Hiroko Kubota designs use glossy PP-coated paper covers.

Hobonichi does not recommend using certain clear covers directly over some PP-coated HON covers because of the characteristics of the surface material.

V&A Series – Vine

Color transfer may occur through friction, prolonged contact, water, or perspiration.

Extra care is recommended when carrying the planner next to light-colored clothing or other belongings.

Tomoe River Paper

Tomoe River paper is extremely thin and smooth.

Depending on the type and amount of ink used, some inks may take longer to dry, bleed, or show through the paper.

Testing unfamiliar pens or inks before regular use is recommended. A pencil board or blotting paper may also be useful.
