Detailed Description:
Elegant vintage Japanese lacquer-style compact accessory box featuring traditional autumn grass motifs inspired by classic maki-e (蒔絵) decorative techniques. The glossy black surface is decorated with delicate gold and red floral patterns resembling pampas grass, wildflowers, and seasonal Japanese autumn plants associated with refined traditional Japanese aesthetics.
This type of compact vanity box was commonly used for storing small traditional accessories connected with okobo (おこぼ) — the tall wooden footwear worn by maiko and young girls during formal Japanese occasions and festivals. Small lacquer boxes like this were often used for hair accessories, bells, cosmetics, cords, or decorative items accompanying traditional kimono and okobo attire.
The piece includes an integrated mirror inside the lid and a removable inner tray compartment, making it suitable for cosmetics, jewelry, hair ornaments, or traditional Japanese accessories.
